Minister Dr. Ursula van der Leyen met the Austrian minister of defence Hans-Peter Doskozil for a working visit to sign documents strengthening military cooperation between the two countries.
The meeting tackled the issues of refugees, terrorism, security, borders and military cooperation without offering details.
The question of „Europe And Middle-East News“ journalist Kawther Salam, „Referring to the request of president Obama to send german troops to Litauen: „Don’t you think that strengthening the military presence at the Russian borders will have a negative effect on the relation between the European countries and Russia?“ The German Defence Minister answered in her own words, „We respect the decision of the NATO…and exactly within this frame, with a view to the NATO summit in Warsaw plans are developed at the moment how to position oneself in the Eastern NATO member countries within the frame of the NATO-Russia Founding Act. Cause (Because) this is now a process which is moving towards the Warsaw summit.“
The answer of the minister includes that at least „somebody“ (whoever that may be) develops „plans“ within a „frame“ (which we do not know exactly).
The journalists were handed a two-page press release, which keeps open the objects and purposes in a worldly manner.
