Today Vienna’s fifth new educational campus in the Aspern Urban Seestadt was officially opened by Mayor Dr. Michael Häupl and Education Minister Gabriele Heinisch-Hosek and leaders of the city and the developer and Architektur of BIG.
800 children will attend the Campus and kindergarten at the school yearly.
The nursery can accommodate eleven groups and the full-day elementary school includes 17 classes and eight compulsory classes such as an exercise class for children with physical disabilities.
“The Campus Aspern Urban Seestadt shows it is not only that Vienna is growing and accompanied the city this growth optimally by creating new infrastructure but rather, demonstrates just this newly created educational and education area is a big succeeds in Vienna and a great architectural and structural requirement for innovative pedagogy. Everything in the campus is modern, the school is modern, the buildings are modern and the pedagogy is modern too” said the President of Vienna Board of Education, Susanne Brandsteidl.

Due to numerous measures such as the installation of a groundwater heat pump or the establishment of a solar thermal system, the building was by Total Quality Building of the Austrian Company certified for Sustainable Building “, says Managing Director Wolfgang BIG Gleissner.
Basal remedial classes
The new campus is focus in the integration of children with physical disabilities: For them, modern therapy rooms were set up with music, waterbeds, light and motion games. Private relaxation areas – the so-called “Snoezelen” – are open to children of all ages.
