The Ministers for Foreign Affairs of the Council of Europe’s 47 member states will meet in Vienna on 6 May, at the Hofburg palace.
The meeting will be chaired by Sebastian Kurz, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Austria and Chairman of the Committee of Ministers. It will begin at 9.30 CET. Items on the agenda to be adopted by the ministers at the opening of the session should include:
- – Council of Europe values and stability in Europe: current challenges
a) State of democracy, human rights and the rule of law in Europe – Report by the Secretary General
b) The current crisis in Europe - – Securing the long-term effectiveness of the system of the European Convention on Human Rights
- – Co-operation with the European Union
- – The policy of the Council of Europe towards neighbouring regions
Following the morning sitting, an informal working session in the form of a lunch between the ministers will be dedicated to the situation in Ukraine.
At the end of the session, Minister Kurz will present the stocktaking of Austria’s chairmanship over the past six months and Elmar Mammadyarov, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, will present the priorities of his country’s chairmanship which will start on 14 May.
