EU Neighbourhood Info – 05-06-2013 – Ambassador James Moran, Head of the European Union Delegation to Egypt, is in South Sinai on 4 and 5 June where he is expected to visit a number of EU funded projects in the area. The 64 million Euro Development projects include a solid waste management facility, social and economic development centre for south Sinai Bedouin communities, economic rehabilitation of people with special needs, women empowerment, as well as handicraft centres.
Ambassador Moran sees his trip to Sinai as timely:” Field trips to EU funded projects in Egypt are important in assessing the development on the ground as well as the real impact on the lives of people. The trip to south Sinai comes at a time when development of Sinai is widely debated here in Egypt. These EU funded projects have been operating for some time and there are doubtless many lessons to be learned for the future development of this important part of the country,” Ambassador Moran said.
