Hebron, or “Al-Khalil” in Arabic, is the second oldest city in Palestine, with almost 180.000 Palestinian inhabitants. Hebron, which is aged 5,500 years, is adapting the spiritual shrine of the Ibrahimi Mosque, where the Prophet Abraham and his wife Sara lie entombed.
Since 1967 Hebron has been occupied by Israel . During these years, the illegal settlers, armed American Jewish terrorist squatters from terrorist organizations like “Kach”, the “Jewish Underground” and others, live under constant protection in the heart of Hebron and near its Old City. They are protected by over 5000 soldiers who have converted the heart of the old city of Hebron into hell. The Old City resembles a concentration camp, for the Palestinians living. All entrances are blocked by metal doors, barbed wire, and controlled by thousands of soldiers. Hebron a special case in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. The . Jewish settlers of Hebron are fanatic extremists even by Israeli standards. They regularly ransack Palestinian shops, cut electricity lines and water pipes, wreck cars, and attack schoolchildren.
Hebron has been divided into two parts – H1 and H2 – according to the Hebron Protocol signed between Palestinians and Israelis in 1997.
The reality of having Israeli settlements in the center of Hebron city, within Palestinian residential areas, creates high level of tension among Palestinian citizens who live under very sever circumstances. Citizens of H2 area in Hebron are suffer aggressive actions from both Israeli military occupiers and the armed terrorists settlers.
The Israeli military authorities impose regular curfews and very strict measures on the Palestinians who live in the area H2. They are denied access to many areas or to their own houses, shops and schools, in an attempt to isolate the area and separate it from other parts of Hebron, aiming at colonizing the old part of the city and enlarging the Israeli enclave inside it. The Israeli military commanders of the civil administration have issued hundreds of military orders in which they closed the Palestinians houses in the old city, destroyed many others and declared their properties as a military zone.
Twenty one military decrees have been issued by the Israeli government, preventing Palestinians from entering certain areas in the Old City of Hebron, neither walking nor driving there.
Emad Hamdan, the director of Hebron Rehabilitation Committee in Hebron, said that the week from the 2 – 9 November 2008 is declared as “The National Campaign Against Israeli Closures and genocide in the Old City of Hebron” in order to raise up a shout of rejection against what is going on in Hebron. The campaign will include mainly:
- Fixing a net next to the old city of Hebron to be used as a Headquarter of the campaign.
- Solidarity visits to the net and to the old city of Hebron by high level Palestinian officials.

The sufferance of 180,000 Palestinian citizens continues in Hebron Old City due to Israel’s eight-year-long closure of the city centre.
United Nations humanitarian affairs reports indicated that more than 101 roadblocks, barricades and military checkpoints are preventing the pursuance of normal life in the city and are tearing its old part to shreds, for the sole purpose of protecting 400 Israeli settlers living in the city.
We invite you to take part in the National Campaign Against Israeli Closures in Hebron Old City launched by city citizens and organizations calling for an end to this blockade by sending the attached letter, or any other text requesting the lift of the siege, to the addresses of Israel’s Prime Minister, its Ministers of Defense and Foreign Affairs, and to the Speaker of the Knesset.
Text of the letter:
We refuse the closure imposed on Hebron’s Old City and demand that the Israeli government and Israeli occupation authorities lift the blockade, thus allowing Palestinian citizens to enjoy freedom of travel and normal mobility in their own city.

The Israeli regime always find an excuse to demolish Palestinian lives, but they would chant when someone reply back.
None of the Israelis are civilians, or at least there are no civilians who would accept to steal other’s lands and hide behind a solder!
But, what are we expecting from a regime that arrested kids and infants even!
Do you see this as a race war?
