The assassination of the spiritual religious leader Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, a 68 year old paralyzed and sick man, authorized by Sharon and implemented by three Israeli Helicopters made in the U.S.A at the entrance of the Omari Mosque in Gaza city, came one week after the Sheikh's declaration of the “Noble Mandatory Document” which all the Palestinian resistance and struggle groups and the PA should respect after the Israeli occupation withdrawal from Gaza.

Sheikh Ahmed Yassin talked about this document in response to false rumours accusing Hamas of preparing themselves to replace the PA in Gaza. These rumours were spread by irresponsible people who see themselves as leaders of the Palestinians.

The declaration of Sheikh Ahmad Yassin comes during the time of Sharon’s talk about the withdrawal from Gaza on the basic of the road map. This declaration of sheikh Yassin made lots of people angry, besides the U.S and Israel.

The U.S. regime is trying to isolate the religious people from Hamas and other Islamic parties from leading in Gaza and the West Bank by classifying them as terrorists. Hamas is listed officially by the U.S. as a terrorist movement.

Before that, the U.S. Road Map which was signed by the Palestinian Authority, remarked that in the first and the second phase the Palestinians would have to dismantle the existing security organizations and implement security reforms, during the course of which new organizations would be formed which would combat terror, violence and incitement. These organizations would engage in “genuine prevention of terror and violence” through arrests, interrogations, prevention and the enforcement of the legal groundwork for investigations, prosecution and punishment.

In the first phase of the plan and as a condition for progress to the second phase, the Palestinians would complete the dismantling of “terrorist” organizations (Hamas, Islamic Jihad, The Popular Front, The Democratic Front, the Al-Aqsa Brigades and other groups) and their infrastructure, collecting all weapons and transferring them to a third party for the sake of being removed from the area and destroyed. Cessation of weapons smuggling and weapons production inside the Palestinian territories, activation of the full prevention apparatus and cessation of incitement are other aspects discussed in this “road map”.

There will be no progress to the second phase without the fulfilment of all above-mentioned conditions relating to the war against terror. The U.S. Road Map did not remark that Israel should dismantle the Jewish terror organizations (Kach, Gush Emunim, Secret Terror Organizations, the Armed Settlers , the Road Security Organization and other other Jewish groups). The Road Map did not even mention that Israel must cease violence and incitement against Palestinians.

The second phase of the Road Map remarked: “Full performance will be a condition for progress between phases and for progress within phases. The first condition for progress will be the complete cessation of terror, violence and incitement. Progress between phases will come only following the full implementation of the preceding phase. Attention will be paid not to time lines, but to performance benchmarks (time lines will serve only as reference points”.

The Assassination of Sheikh Ahmad Yassin, the leaders of Hamas and other struggle movements come indirectly from the the Road Map phases. The assassination of Sheikh Ahmad Yassin and the declaration that other leaders from Hamas and the other parties will be assassinated gives Sharon strength.

The Question is: Did the Palestinian Authority realize that the Assassination of Palestinian leaders was implied between the lines of the Road Map even before they signed it ? If the answer to this question is yes, it is a clear sign of treachery on their part. If, on the other hand, the answer is no, it is sign of colossal stupidity on their part.

After signing the Road Map, which Israel accepted on Sunday, 25.05.03, Sharon continued asking Abu Mazen, the first PA prime Minister, to fulfil the first Road Map phase as a conditional acceptation before starting negotiations, because the PA is not able to fulfil the stipulations of the Road Map as the people will not allow the Palestinian security to make any arrest of Hamas or the leaders of other movements.

This gave the criminal Sharon a pretext to carry out his barbaric assassinations of Palestinians leaders, all under the cover of the U.S. Road Map.

The assassination of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin, which Sharon authorized and for which he congratulated his government as if this was an act of patriotic heroism or as if he had defeated Nazi Germany, was a very clear sign of the barbarism to which the Israeli State has descended under his rule.

Sharon has not become a hero because of this miserable murder. He did not fight against a militant with his three Apache helicopters, instead, he assassinated a paralyzed, sick, deaf and nearly blind old religious man sitting on his wheelchair after his morning prayers at the mosque in Gaza.

Sharon sent his three American Apache helicopters to fulfil the stipulations set forth for the first phase of the “Road Map”. He was probably waiting, drinking coffee mixed with Palestinian blood, in the same way as he is waiting for tomorrow, to drink his morning coffee mixed with the blood of the Israeli civilians who will die in the revenge bombings which will inevitably come. While Sharon is not personally affected by this circle of revenge he does not care. He sits comfortably  on his chair causing disaster for others, for all around him. Even Israelis seem to be mere pawns in his bloody games, the “highlights” on his very personal implementation of the Road Map.

This last provocation shows that he could not care less about a few dozens more (or less) dead Israelis, which will be the sad but inevitable result of the all next round of retaliations. By taking the implementation of the Road Map in his hand he has finally succeeded in showing to the world all his barbarity, his miserable and disgusting cruelty.  The White House's anger at this attentate was probably sparked because Sharon did not inform them about the exact timing of the assassination, so they could take the appropriate security measures and have President Bush scurry into hiding somewhere in the basement.

The Assassination of Sheikh Yassin will not help Muhammad Dahlan to control the Gaza Strip more easily. The British assistance will not help the PA to restore the law in the city, the establishment of the “Joint Control Office” and the “Command Center” will not help the PA, and the Egyptians will not be of help either. Everybody in Gaza and the West Bank knows everybody else, and everybody knows what everybody else is up to. The PA Generals who were not acting in the best interest of the Palestinians during the Intifada, protecting us, their people, from harm, do not deserve to lead the situation. The Israeli and U.S. addresses and chosen ones in the West Bank and Gaza will not be able to exist much longer.

In 1996, when Israel assassinated the Engineer Yahya Ayash in Gaza, there were four revenge operations undertaken by Hamas militants in Jerusalem, Khdereh and Tel Aviv, in which over 50 Israelis were killed. This response was within the calculations of the Israeli government. And in the same way, whatever response might come for the assassination of Sheikh Yassin has been taken into consideration by the security circles working around Sharon well in advance.
